Margie | Chilliwack Fashion Photography

I absolutely adore Margie. We have done two sessions before and they were very artsy, she’s always been game for anything. So when I wanted to take my budding second photographer out during a session we got to play with reflective light from my Light Disk. I had a ton of fun and enjoyed myself thoroughly!

Nina Lilly | Chilliwack Fashion Photography

Nina wanted to do a session after being behind the lens for so long, I was more than excited to take advantage of the snow and sun!

This last image SCREAMED Kristen Stewart, seriously in the moment, in the camera, on the computer screen, its totally doppleganger!

Michelle DeVries Coates | Chilliwack Portrait Photography

What a stunning beauty!

Michelle and I met through a model page on Facebook and met up for the first time for a very forward shoot… I like to call it my Tim Burton session.

Since then I have worked with her at Galaxy Cinema’s and she’s changed her hairstyles multiple times (but then again, so have I) … So this session is definitely different from the last. Michelle you are so much fun to shoot, stay fierce and enjoy!

Nina Lilly | Chilliwack Portrait Photography

Nina Lilly is an aspiring model and photographer in town that I met through networking with local models. She enjoy’s being infront of the camera just as much as being behind the lens. Nina also has a knack for designing her own clothes, so when she wanted to do a bit of a rocker/rebel styled shoot I was more then game. Note the cool vest she made out of an old shirt that she cut up and fashioned into a skull face.

50mm DREAM | Chilliwack Portrait Photography

I’ve been drooling over a 50mm for a while and today I made the big purchase. (going to geek out here) It goes all the way down to 1.4 f/stop and makes this insane bokeh to an image. And in my opinion adds a ton of romance to shot. Aside from having a shallow depth of field it has great low light capabilities, which means I can be in a situation where there is very little light and I can still get a quality pristine image.

Lets just say im super excited to shoot my next wedding!!!

Today after work me and my friend/co-worker Melissa went out to test the lens.  Quite quickly I fell in love with the lens, there really is no going back. I sense a very expensive shopping list for lenses in the future.

Welcome to the depth and romance of a Sigma 50mm 1.4.

Im sort of in love with the left picture.... something warm and
Im sort of in love with the left picture…. something warm and “forever” about it.

Ashley Young | Chilliwack Portrait Photography

Art forms come in all shapes and sizes. Much like an athlete, a photographer has to be technically precise in all their movements to capture the exact shot. I’m not saying Ashley’s great display of athleticism is shadowed in my ability to take an image. But we are constantly working off each other.

“Move this way” I say as I also move lower to feature the height of the leap. We tell each other what we want, and we metaphorically “dance” around each other, so that the finished product is the exact vision we imagined.

Ashley Young is a trained dancer that has done many dance shoots, but all of them had a glamour base to them, she was type cast by the very profession she is in, so when I came in and asked her to be athletic, to be precise, to tone down her make-up and hair so that it would be her dancing that would provoke her beauty, she was excited. For once someone wanted her to dance and not be a “dancer”.

This Image is a personal favourite of mine, where neither the model or photographer charge each other for the session, it is specifically for the love of the art. And when you have someone who loves to take pictures and someone who loves to dance, what can you expect but creativity to develop.

Dwayne | Chilliwack Portrait Photography

Looking back at my portfolio I noticed a huge absence of male portraits, granted there are plenty of men in my engagement and wedding sessions, but I have been dying to just shoot a male portrait session. A lot of the time we can get used to a certain thing, Im used to shooting women, showcasing them, highlighting their beauty. Today I did a session with my friend Dwayne Bennett (yes ladies he’s single) cue Dwayne’s “Oh stop it Steph”. I reacquainted myself with shooting the best angles and highlighting features of a man, men have very hard rough features and can be showcased with a different sort of shading with light. Im very happy with each and every shot we got today (minus the fact it was WAY TO HOT OUT) I hope you all enjoy as well!

Rebecca | Chilliwack Portrait Photography

I met her in kindergarten and for 13 years we were close friends, too many laughs, countless jokes, and many many many more memories I cant count.  Its been 6 years since we graduated and we’ve only met up once since then for a fall photo-shoot. When I called her this time, we continued the laughs, jokes, and memory making moments. Rebecca is such a beautiful soul, and such a joyful spirit.
