One reason I started down the path of photography was for the sheer pleasure of creating something of substance. Through the years my love of portraiture resulted in photographing countless amazing couples, families, and individuals. I can remember each fun memory, instant connection, and candid photograph that built me into the artist that I am today; sometimes however I crave the freedom to create work like this, no guidelines, restrictions or expectations (but my own).
In 2013 I had the pleasure of doing a fine art session with Ashley Young, a model I absolutely love working with. Ashley’s dancer precision and ethereal quality is rich in each photo. I wanted vulnerability, delicate qualities of the female form, and lush texture of earth to collide in a gallery of photographs that captured this essence.
I am currently attending University for the Visual Arts Diploma. In the process of taking courses like drawing, sculpture, and art history; I also must complete the required photography courses.
Yesterday we had the opportunity to work with strobe lighting. I already have some experience in the field with my own lighting gear but what made this exciting and new was the use of some of my wish-list gear; Profoto lights and big beautiful soft-boxes.
… I’m in love!
Below are three portraits of my fellow classmates, I hope you enjoy.

Laura Muir is a close family friend who I have shared many laughs with throughout the years. After photographing her sons graduation 2 years ago; she had talked to me about the possibility of a private portrait session. As life often does; we both got busy and I eventually moved away. With the trip down this week she was adamant that we meet up and finally do the photo-session.
Laura is a constant joy to those who meet her, her humor livens any conversation, and her compassion is true to a fault. I was honoured to spend the afternoon with her, and overjoyed with the summer sun that glowed on her beautiful face!
Kathleen and Evelyn have been best friends for years so when their graduation rolled around they wanted to do their Grad photos together. They were both gorgeous and had so much fun (even with sinking into the grass with stilletto’s. Congrats to you both on this milestone in your lives.
A couple years ago I had the joy of photographing Zach’s older Sister Janae. This year he got to star front and center for his own grad, with a great smile and a sharp suit Zach was dashing and debonaire.
About an hour into our shoot, Zach’s date Jamie came for some couple shots. They were playful and fun the entire time, it was joy to photograph.
